Without
doubt, out of season (September - May) is the best time to see the
Cornish countryside in all its splendour, and the heated swimming
pool is open in both May and September.
Out of season
the roads are quieter, seaside towns and pubs more restful and local
people more responsive. It's also much cheaper!
In the spring
the countryside is waking up with a beautiful array of fresh colours,
which change almost, daily, and the fields around our cottages are
filled with skipping new born lambs. In addition we have the Padstow
'obby oss' celebrations (May 1st) and the Helston Flora Dance
(early May) , when these towns have a holiday and are filled
with festive people, flowers and greenery from the surrounding countryside.

Both
are occasions, which we never miss, and are unique opportunities
to join with Cornish folk in an ancient tradition. As a farming
family the coming of spring, which these events celebrate, is of
immense importance, and a pint of the excellent 'Spingo'
- bitter brewed at the Blue Anchor pub in Helston is recommended.
At the other
end of the season - in the Autumn we have events such as Widdecombe
Fair (10th September) followed by Tavistock 'Goosey Fair'
and the Ottery St. Mary burning tar barrel races. During
these months the colours of the countryside are spectacular, and
the views out over the often rough Atlantic Ocean from vantage points
such as the Port William pub at Trebarwith are magnificent.

SHORT BREAKS (less than 5 nights)
When available,
the cost of short breaks is the appropriate percentage of the weekly rate
plus a cleaning charge. The charge for three-night stay, for example,
would be 4/7ths of the weekly rate. (A Minimum charge applies, which is
the rate for 3 nights).
The out of season
offers do not apply to short breaks, although the 10% discount for
couples does apply for return visits.
